The ACDS Teaching and Learning Conference 2013 will be held July 18 and 19th at the Mercure Hotel, Broadway, Sydney. Conference themes for this year include the ACDS Science TLO project and next steps in curriculum reform, demonstrator training and new initiatives in maths teaching. Our keynote speaker is Prof Beverly Oliver, DVC Academic, Deakin University who will discuss the role of Science ADTLs and Science Faculties in driving curriculum reform. Prof Oliver is well known for her work in curriculum mapping and graduate capabilities (see biography below). The conference will be preceded by a welcome new ADTLs at 5.30 pm on Wednesday 17 followed by an informal dinner to catch up with old friends and meet new ones. Recent nationally-funded projects include: Australian Learning and Teaching Council National Teaching Fellowship, Assuring Graduate Capabilities (tiny.cc/boliver); ALTC Good Practice Guide: Assuring Graduate Outcomes; ALTC Teaching Fellowship: Benchmarking partnerships for graduate employability and ALTC Competitive Grant: Building Course Team Capacity for Graduate Employability. Beverley has extensive experience in University-wide change leadership in teaching and learning, recognised with two ALTC Citations for Outstanding Contributions to Student Learning (2008 and 2010). She publishes in a range of teaching and learning areas, including assuring graduate attributes and capabilities, employability; student, graduate and employer evaluation; curriculum renewal, mapping and analytics; ePortfolios and student ownership and use of emerging devices and Web 2.0 applications. Beverley is the Editor of the Journal of Learning and Teaching for Graduate Employability.
