Issue #10 Australian University Science Posted in News, Research, Teaching and Learning on September 28, 2023 by Glenda Key. The latest issue of the ACDS magazine is out now. This issue is titled Impact what lies beneath? and delves into the inner workings of university science. For some time now university science has been justified in terms of its industry and community outcomes. In this issue, by contrast, we put the spotlight on what lies behind the breakthroughs, and on what underpins university science. Our contributors highlight the decades of university based investment in fundamental research, the knowledge ecosystem and the atmosphere of collaboration and learning that university science needs to sustain. Maintaining the richness and growth of this knowledge ecosystem is critical for the development of skills for the (unknown) future workforce. This issue highlights a number of innovations that were inconceivable without the new knowledge and ways of thinking that university science generates.
